There seems to be a lot of buzz over the new Twilight movie New Moon, but what are your six favourite vampire movies and why?
- Dracula (1931) - Bela Lugosi was the quintessential Count. I can see images of Renfield gone mad, Dracula's brides preparing to feast, and Dracula himself morphing into a bat.
- Near Dark (1987) - Okay so let me set the scene, we're down in a dusty hot part of the South. Caleb meets Mae, a blonde vamp, and I do mean vamp. A little kiss turns into a nip on the neck, and before you know it Caleb is part of a family of blocksuckers who travel around in stolen cars. This is a vampire movie with violence so real that you will want to run and hide.
- Fright Night (1985) - - Charlie loves vampire movies, so imagine what's it's like when the real deal moves in next door. Of course, no one will believe him. But of course, that only makes him try harder.
- Lost Boys (1987) - I could and have watched this one over and over again.
- Twilight (2008) - Hasn't every girl dreamed of falling in love with a vampire?
- Okay and now for the vampire movie that should have won an Oscar. This one has everything: dark, moody atmosphere, teen-age angst, teen-age love, violent bloodsucking scenes, and bullies that get there's in the end. It's a Swedish film titled Let The Right One In.
No matter how old I get I will always love teen-age movies, especially vampire movies with teen-agers in them. You will find 3,4 & 5 mucho entertaining. ** Favorite teen-age zombie movie Night of the Comet (1984)
